Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic, rubber-ring, and like cushions.- A spring wheel comprises an outer rigid ring e, Fig. 1, spaced from a hub-carried member d by a pneumatic or solid tyre. The member d may be of the cross-section shown in Fig. 2, or it may be formed integral with the tyre-carrying rim. The ring e is of the form shown in Fig. 2. The members d and e are provided with rollers g and f respectively, over which a cord or wire is led to form a driving connection as shown in Fig. 1. Two such cords may be used on each side of the wheel, and anchored to either member d, e. In order that the wheel may be used after deflation, the tyre may be provided with circumferential flanges q. The ring e may be guided by annular or segmental plates m, Fig. 1. A ring n may be secured to the plates m and contain rows of bearing balls which make contact with either member d or e. The inner edges of the plates m may have projections through which bolts s may pass. An anti-skid device may be used in the recesses t of the member e and may comprise a leather or like band having studs with heads inside the band and a lining between the heads and the member e.
