Abstract

159,915. Borrie, W. R. Feb. 13, 1920. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic hubs and cushions.-Relates to resilient wheels in which the hub comprises a circular steel trough or channel carrying pneumatic cushions, and a trough rigid with the outer portion of the wheel fitting telescopically within the channel. According to the invention, the troughs or channels b, d, Figs. 1 and 2, are provided with projections h, the number of such projections on the trough d being double that on the trough b. The pneumatic tube f may be divided into compartments. A projecting flange e limits excessive movement. In a modification, Fig. 4, pneumatic or solid flexible balls j are seated in hollows k in the troughs. In the case of pneumatic balls they may be connected by air passages.
