Abstract

166,211. Pattison, E. W., (General Research Laboratories). March 18, 1919. Vapours, producing by chemical action. - Pinene ozonide is produced by introducing pinene into ozonized air under pressure, spraying the mixture produced one or more times, and then allowing the mixture to expand successively and by degrees until atmospheric pressure is reached. Air under pressure is passed from the ozone generator 11 to a pipe 4, into which pinene is discharged by means of a feeding device 3. The mixture passes through a sprayer 15<1> into a series of mixing chambers 16<1>, 18, 38<1>; thence to another mixing chamber 25 provided with a nozzle 26 and deflector 27 at the entrance; and finally through an injector arrangement 32 to a distributing chamber 30<1>, whence the ozonide issues to the atmosphere. Additional ozonized air may be introduced through the pipes 38, 39. Valves 12a, 15, 20, 23, 30 and gauges 12b, 16, 24, 31 are provided for regulating the pressures throughout the system to permit of expansion of the mixture by consecutive stages. Other forms of feeding device may be used.
