Distilling plant.-A method of distillation consists in producing pulsations in the reaction chamber by periodical injections of vapours or gases into the discharge current. The outlet pipe a of a coke-oven for example leads to a pipe b having a constriction c, into which a pipe d opens, forming an injector. A fan h supplies gas under pressure and the mechanical opening and closing of a member f causes pulsations in the gas outlet pipe and coke-oven. The addition of gas or vapour, or purified coal gas, facilitates the purification of the gas produced and removes the risk of tar being deposited in the pulsator itself. Other suitable auxiliary gases are hydrogen or water vapour. Specification 192,089, [Class 1 (i),. Chemical processes &c.], is referred to.
