Abstract
260,236. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron). Oct. 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Carbon bisulphide, distilling.-In saparating crude carbon bisulphide into pure carbon bisulphide, sulphuretted hydrogen and sulphur, the crude liquid is fed into the upper part of a column A from which the residual liquid passes into a still A<2>. Carbon bisulphide vapours pass from the base of the column through a pipe x to the top of a column B. Residual liquid containing sulphur passes into a still B<2>, which may be arranged as an annular chamber above the still A<2>. Pure carbon bisulphide vapours pass from the base of the column to a condenser C. Sulphuretted hydrogen passes from the upper parts of the columns through reflux condensers A', B<1>, and through a final condenser D, the condensate from which is passed into the column A. The still A<2> is maintained at a temperature above the melting-point of sulphur, and the still B<2> slightly above the boiling-point of carbon bisulphide. Residue from the still B<2> is passed into the still A<2>, and liquid sulphur is discharged from the still A<2>. The columns are surrounded by heatinsulating material.
