Abstract

165,849. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Horne, J. Aug. 27, 1919. Turrets; mounting.-Relates to three or fourgun turret mountings, and consists in placing the trunnions of the outside guns behind the trunnions of the inside gun or guns, to reduce the width of the turret. The inside trunnion pins A<2> of the two centre guns in the four-gun turret, shown in plan, are far enough apart to be withdrawn axially. The trunnions of the outer guns are in the same horizontal plane as, but behind, the trunnions of the inner gun or guns. Load appliances.-The ammunition hoists from the working chamber deliver ammunition directly behind the centre gun or guns, as at B, and between the guns, as at B<1> for the outer guns. The cages B<1> and conveyers B<2> for the outer guns are arranged as described in Specification 165,853.
