Abstract

164,731. Liebreich, E. June 11, 1920, [Convention date]. Chromium, depositing. - In depositing chromium, either or strongly acid or an alkaline electrolyte is used, the green modification of chromium salts being used as primary material. If not already in this form they are converted by previous boiling, or by a temporary raising of the current density. With an acid solution a cathode of carbon, graphite, or platinum is used. The current-density may be as low as 0.1-0.2 amps. per sq. cm. The alkaline bath is prepared by adding potassium or sodium lye; it is stated that alkaline chromites are formed.
