Guarding against unauthorized use.- A com- 'bination lock for locking the steering-wheel of a motor-vehicle to its steering-column, for steering, or for releasing it therefrom for preventing unauthorized use of the vehicle, comprises looking bolts 4, 5, secured to a cap 6, and passed through the boss 2 of the steering-wheel. Grooves 8 in the bolt 5, and a cut-away portion 7 in the bolt 4, permit free rotation of locking-rings 1; either when the bolts are in the position in which their lower ends pass through the lower end of a liner 17 and enter a flange 12 on the steering-column, cr when in the position in which their ends are retracted from the flange, and movement of the bolts from one position to the other can only take place when the rings are so placed that notches 9 in their flanges permit the passage of the bolts. The liner 17 forms a bearing for the rings whilst a set screw 16, screwed into it, projects into a slot 15 in the bolt 5 thereby limiting its movement. A set screw 18 closes the hole through which the set screw 16 is inserted.
