163,751. Conder, C. M., and Vivian, G. T. Jan. 24, 1920. Roller mills.-In a roller crushing-mill in which the rollers are mounted on shafts running in journals supported on slides at an angle to the horizontal and pressed towards each other by means of springs or by weights acting through levers, the minimum distance between the axes of the shafts of the rollers is adjusted by means of wedges which may be supported on auxiliary wedges. The journals 4 of the roller shafts rest on inclines 2 on the framing 1 and have lugs on their inner faces carrying pins 6 which are connected by rods 7 to a spring-pressed base-plate 8. The vertical springs 29 are adjustable by means of bolts 9 having at their upper ends nuts 11 which press against a plate 10 resting on top of the springs. The minimum distance between the rollers is regulated by wedge-shaped blocks 12 adjustable by nuts 13, and the auxiliary supporting- wedges 14 are adjustable at right-angles to the blocks 12 by nuts 15. Each roller consists of a shell or tyre mounted on conical centres keyed to the shaft of the rollers and drawn together by bolts. The cheek-plates 21 are carried by bolts 22 from the central section 20 of the cover or case and their distances from the rollers are adjustable by means of bolts 23. The journals 4 are situated outside the crushing-chamber, and one end of each shaft is extended and carries a driving-pulley 28; or the shafts may be connected by toothed gearing and one of them be provided with a driving-pulley.
