Abstract

In a process for recovering wool-fat from wool-washing effluent, the liquor is subjected, before the addition of a soap-forming reagent such as milk of lime, to a flotation treatment as described in Specification 157,490. In another process, calcium chloride is added and the precipitate washed, dried, and extracted with hot acetone or dissolved directly in a non-inflammable solvent. Yorkshire grease may be freed from fatty acid by stirring milk of lime into the molten grease and driving off water by evaporation. The product is treated with solvent and the solution is filtered.
