Control mechanism.-Relates to means for actuating Bowden wires or other control cables or rods for controlling the carburettor, brakes or engine valves &c. on a motor-cycle &c., of the kind in which radial fingers on the transmission element engage coaxial members with longitudinal and inclined slots, one of the members being rotated to transmit axial displacement. The invention comprises an arrangement in which the longitudinally slotted member is mounted for rotation on a fixed member formed with the inclined slots. As shown in Fig. 1, the device is applied, for example, to the handle-bar of a motor-cycle, the longitudinally slotted member comprising a rotatable grip 10 with a lining 8 serving to force radial fingers 3 on the end of a Bowden transmission wire 1 against the sides of inclined slots 6 formed in the handle-bar 2. The grip member is retained against a collar 7 on the handle-bar by means of a cap 13 secured by a pin 12. In an alternative form the cap is integral with the grip member. The transmission member 1 passes out of the handle-bar through an external swelling or protuberance 15 formed at the bend and serving for the attachment of the casing 14 by means of a ferrule 16 and nut 17.
