Control mechanism.-Means for regulating the resistance to movement of a rotary grip control device for Bowden and like mechanism on motor vehicles &c., comprises an independent split collar q adjustably clamped upon the outer rotary grip member, as by a tangent screw-and-nut r, and held from rotation by connection to a separate fixed portion at or adjacent to either end of the grip device. One end of the split collar may be formed with a lug s or a similar clip or hook may be pivoted on the tangent screw r to rengage one of the end collars p, n clamping the longitudinally slotted inner sleeve b of the grip device to the handle-bar or like tubular member a. The inner sleeve may comprise a bent up tube with separated edges forming the slot and ends o of reduced diameter to hug the handle bar &c. The outer sleeve or rotary grip member, also a bent up tube with rubber &c. covering l, may be formed at one end with a helical slot j covered by a short tube m with holes for lubrication. The longitudinally slidable member d, formed of machined or pressed metal &c., is provided at one end with a hole or recess e to receive a nipple on the end of the Bowden cable. The nipple may be disengaged by loosening the clamp n and rotating the outer sleeve to project the connection e beyond the inner sleeve. The end of the handle bar &c. may be split and an inverted control lever mounting v for an independent actuating device secured therein by the clamping collar p.
