Abstract

163,391. Yates, H. Jan. 14, 1920. Tie-bars; sleepers, pot. - In an arrangement for the permanent way of railways, the tie-bar consists of a metal plate 1 vertically arranged and having upstanding parts 2, 3 with rail and wedgeengaging lugs 4, 5 projecting upwardly from and in the plane of the plate. The parts 2, 3 pass through spaced slots 11, 12 in the sleeper and the sleeper is arched at 10 to take the tie-bar. The wedge 15, which may be of cast steel, is tapered along its vertical sides and is undercut along one side to form an overhanging portion 16 which bears on the base of the rail.
