Abstract

Tie-bars; sleepers, pot, integral w i t h chairs. - Metal pot sleepers A are adjustably connected together by a tie-bar C which extends through or into the sleepers and between sets of ears 30 formed on or secured to the sleepers, the ears receiving a bolt B<3> which extends into one of several holes 32 in the tie-bar. When the tie-bar extends through the sleepers, additional holes 33, Fig. 2, are formed to receive a cotter pin 34. The rails R are secured by hooked bolts 19 beneath fixed lugs 29 which may engage the rail web and receive fish-bolts. The tie-bars may be protected by a shield S, Fig. 8, with flanges bent to form troughs 51, the end portions being cut away to conform to the adjacent surface of the sleepers.
