Abstract

217,505. Spratt, L. D., and Schlotfeldt, C. Nov. 27, 1923. Sound and vibration preventing; sleepers, metal.-A railway sleeper comprises spaced sides 4 connecting box receptacles 3 which contain springs reacting against a cover 5 on which the rails 1 seat. The box 3 has pins 7 carrying springs which also engage pins 10 secured to the cover 5 and entering a recess in the pins 7. The springs 8 also engage one or more leaf springs 11 to ensure keeping the cover above the box. The cover is secured by bolts 12 with resilient sleeves 13. The rails are kept to gauge by outer lugs 16.
