Abstract
163,325. Siemens - Schuckertwerke. May 15, 1920, [Convention date]. Low-pressure metallic-vapour apparatus.-In a mercury or other rectifier, the flow of vapour causes a suction of air and residual gas from the anode spaces, thereby improving the vacuum near the anodes. As shown, a double-walled cylindrical or other screen 7 and deflector 9, arranged above the cathode 5, provide a down. ward path 11 for the vapour, which draws gases in the direction shown by the arrow 12, away from anodes 2, and towards a discharge pipe 13. The container has a water jacket 10, and the anodes are mounted in extensions 3 of the container, and provided with protective tubes 4. An insulating ring 6 is arranged between the cathode and the container. Condensed mercury 8 overflows to the cathode.
