Abstract
162,736. Pullin, C. G., and Groom, S. L. Jan. 6, 1920. Exhaust-silencers.-In a silencer suitable for two-stroke engines and comprising interconnected tapering chambers through which the gases pass in succession by entering each chamber at the larger end, the casing 1 is divided into tapering chambers by a single baffle member 4 folded upon itself and having perforations 7, 8 on one side of each bend. The gases enter the first chamber through an inlet 6 and leave the final chamber 5, which is parallelsided, by an open outlet formed by a slot 9 in an end cap 10 attached by means of a transverse bolt 11 and an eye bolt 13 embracing a distance sleeve 17 on the bolt 11.
