Abstract
162,182. Smith, H. B. April 26, 1920. Press-button fasteners.-The socket member of a stud-and-socket fastening is formed from a triangular plate 5 with rectangular slotted extensions 8 at each corner and a central hole 6, and is fitted with springs 13 to engage the stud member. Fig. 2 is a view of the underside of the member. The outside edges are bent to form an inwardly rounded flange 8, the edge of the hole 6 is bent at right-angles and slotted to allow the arms 13 of the springs to protrude, and the inward edges of the rectangular slots 10 are bent to form a flange 11, curved in the same direction as 8. The inner arm 15 of each spring contacts with the flange 11, the part 13 presses into the stop in the flange of the hole 6, and the ends 20, and rounded parts 21 are housed in the flange 8. The outer walls of the slotted members 8 are depressed above and below, as at 12, to receive the threads which attach the device to a garment or the like.
