162,166. Holmes & Co., W. C., Henshaw, D. M., and Whittell, J. April 1, 1920. Scrubbers and washers.-In a rotary gas washer of the type in which a series of brush-carrying discs rotate in liquid, and the gas travels in a sinuous direction through the brushes, the discs have gas-ways between the shaft and the brushes, and the walls are alternately provided with central and peripheral perforations. The washer comprises casings a, b each divided into chambers c by walls d against both sides of which rotate the brushes e carried by the discs f which have gas-ways j and are mounted on the common shaft g. The brushes in revolving pick up the washing liquid q. The gas enters by the inlet pipe m, passes through the brushes on each side of the first disc, in the same direction, then through the gas-way k and again through brushes to the periphery, whence it reaches a third chamber c through the slots l. After passing through the casing b the gas is treated in the second casing a.
