Abstract

275,092. Holmes, P. F., Henshaw, D. M., and Holmes & Co., Ltd., W. C. Feb. 7, 1927. Washers.-In apparatus for treating gases with liquids of the kind having a number of sections in each of which rotates a disc or annulus 11 carrying on both sides adjacent its periphery brushes 12 arranged parallel with the shaft 13, the gas is caused to travel through both sets of brushes in each section and through a number of adjacent sections in the same direction. In the form shown, " still chambers " 8, 9, are provided through which the gas passes to openings 15 in diaphragms 5, 6, leading to the sections 10. The gas leaves each section through an opening 7<a> in the diaphragm 7 forming the other wall of the section. Liquid passes in the reverse direction by way of openings 16, 18 in the diaphragms.
