Abstract

160,548. Booth, J. T. Dec. 22, 1919. Mud-guards carried by wheels.-The mud-guard 9, Fig. 2, which may be circular in section or consist of a pneumatic tyre, is of smaller diameter than the main tyre, and is supported by an extension 11 of the rim 10 and a member 12 which also assists in supporting the main tyre. The extension 11 prevents damage to the ring 9 when the latter comes into contact with kerbs. In a modified form, the mud-guard 7, Fig. 1, is supported by a channel member 4 bolted to the rim by bolts 6. In a further modification, a broad rim 15, Fig. 3, carries both the main tyre and the mudguard 14 which are separated by a ring 16. The mud-guard may be used as an emergency tyre in case of deflation of the main tyre.
