Abstract
160,044. Riley, W. A. J., and Eccles, A. J. Jan. 17, 1920. Bedsteads convertible into seats.-Seating and berth accommodation in a caravan is provided by a pair of separate mattresses or upholstered frames of which each can act as a bed and one is adapted to be placed edgewise on the other to form a seat back. Frames a, b, Fig. 1, are arranged on supports on each side of a caravan, or one above the other, and to form a seat the frame a is adapted to be held against the body c over the frame b by a bracket d and turn-button e. The frame a has a woven wire mesh f, Fig. 3, covered with fabric, and is stiffened by a hinged strut g. The frame b has a wooden base h, Fig. 5, supporting springs j which supplement a wire mesh i. The frame b is hinged so that a part folds up behind the frame a, the mesh i then sagging and providing a recess for the turned-down strut g.
