Clutches, friction. - In link-mechanism for actuating a disc clutch, of the type described in Specifications 130,636 and 131,700, in which the pivots l of bell-cranks h are carried on an adjustable, spring-pressed sleeve s, a ring p, to which the arms m<2> of the bell-cranks are connected by pairs of links e, is mounted with considerable play in the operating-collar q, in order to compensate for inaccuracy in the lengths of the bellcranks. The ends m<1> of the bell-cranks h may be provided with separate contact-pieces n<1> having spherical or other faces to engage presser pins o carried in the cover k of the clutch E. A nut u screws on a hollow driving-shaft r rigid with the cover k, and engages the sleeve s to take up wear, the nut being locked by the engagement of a spring-pressed ball z in one of the cavities y. The operating-collar q, with its floating ring p, is actuated by a sleeve a through ballbearings q<1>. As the link-mechanism turns with the driving - shaft, the inertia of the universal joint shaft x is kept low.
