Abstract

159,021. Moody, W. E. Nov. 19, 1919. Conveying from working face in mines and the like.-Relates to conveyer apparatus particularly designed for gathering coal from the working face in mines and loading it into wagons. A portable frame 1, Fig. 4, on wheels or runners carries a gathering conveyer 6 having a depressed forward end 5 adapted to gather the coal, which is discharged from the raised rear end 7 on to a second conveyer 8 arranged parallel to the line of travel of the portable frame, the second conveyer discharging the coal into a wagon 53. The portable frame is fitted with a motor 16, Fig. 7, which drives the sprocket 12 of the endless-chain conveyer through gearing 24 and a clutch 26, and which also drives clutchable drums 32 over which pass anchored ropes 33 for hauling the conveyer along the working face.
