Abstract

291,421. Whamond, D. June 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Directing and adjustably supporting portable endless-belt conveyers; feeding-devices; driving-gear.-A self-propelled loading machine which may be used to gather coal in a mine and deliver it to a truck inside or outside the mine, comprises a main conveyer frame 2 mounted on endless treads 7, and a supplemental conveyer frame 8, pivoted to the main frame at 11, and carrying a shovel 9, with actuating means which raises the frame 8 and also moves the shovel relatively thereto. As shown, a second supplemental frame 13 is pivoted on the main frame at 14 and the frames carry an endless conveyer 12 which receives material from the shovel and delivers it into trucks at A. The frames 8 and 13 are raised by hydraulic rams 21, 32 operated by a pump 35, Fig. 4, driven from the motor 44, and controlled by valve-operating levers 40, 41. The shovel 9 is pivoted at 10 and connected by links 28 to levers 22 pivoted at 23 on the frame 8. The levers 22 are connected by links 24 to the main frame 2, and are connected also to the rams 21, so that when the frame 8 is raised about its pivot, the shovel 9 is turned.about its pivot 10 on the frame. The conveyer 12 is driven by the motor 44, clutch 78, and sprocket 71 on the shaft 14. The clutch is controlled by a lever 79.
