Abstract

Collapsable vessels; seats and thwarts.-In a life-boat provided with collapsable bulwarks and transversely-folding thwarts which form, with the deck beam 3 and pivoted stanchions, a collapsable rhomboidal structure, the pivoted stanchions 2 are arranged independent of the bulwarks. One end 1<a> of the thwarts 1 is hinged, at 4, to fold back to allow the thwarts to fold downwards upon the deck beams 3, as shown in dotted lines. The ends of the thwarts are slotted to engage the jointed supports 6 of the bulwarks; the thwarts are thus given fore-and-aft stability, and the supports 6 are locked in position.
