Abstract

158,331. Miller, A. J. Oct. 30, 1919. Atmospheric gas burners.-A burner or nozzle for heating purposes comprises a tubular or hollow receptacle built up of a number of sections in such a manner that an inclined elongated slot or opening is formed between successive sections through which the gas, which enters at the bottom of the burner, flows. The burner shown in Fig. 1 consists cf a shallow receptacle A, the top of which is bevelled so that the inner edge is lower than the outer edge, having a port B for the gaseous mixture supply, upon which receptacle is fitted two rings C, D, which are bevelled and separated from the base and each other by narrow bearing- strips forming a series of inclined and elongated orifices E through which the gas flows. The top of the burner is formed of an inverted shallow reecptacle F, the underside being bevelled to correspond to the inclined surface of the adjoining ring C, and it is provided with an outwardly extending flange F<1> to prevent any foreign matte:: from entering and choking the elongated openings, the whole of the integral parts being bolted together. In a modification, the top of the burner consists of a number of rings similar to those comprising the sides and having outwardly extending flanges, thus forming a further series of inclined openings, and the burner has two supply pipes, whilst another modification described refers to an annular type of burner.
