Relieving-mechanism.-A machine for weighing heavy loads in sacks, cases, or the like is provided with a rack and quadrant mechanism for lifting the weights pan in order to lower the gcods platform to the ground. A support d beneath the weights pan f is raised by means of a rack and a quadrant g operated by a shaft h and a hand-lever k. The support is retained in the raised position by a pawl m secured to a spring- rotated shaft m<1>. The shaft h has slight rotational freedom relative to the quadrant g so that on the return of the handle an arm on the shaft h pushes the pawl out of engagement and the support d may then be lowered.
