Abstract
157,780. Lohmann, H. Jan. 13, 1919, [Convention date]. Modifying chemical characters of metals.- Carbon is removed from masses of tungsten, uranium and like metals by heating to a temperature approaching the melting point of the metal whereby the carbon is vaporized, the process being carried out either in an exhausted airtight vessel and the carbon removed by suction or in a current of gas such as hydrogen which withdraws the carbon without causing a chemical alteration in the metal. Specifications 20175/05 and 15021/06 are referred to.
