Abstract

Lead sulphate is obtained by treating lead sulphide ores free from zinc preferably galena, with oleum, which may be in excess, without any external heating. The reaction vessel should be insulated to avoid loss of heat. When an excess of oleum is employed, the sulphate is precipitated by dilution with water, and the excess may be recovered. Specification 154,718 is referred to.
