Abstract

157,407. Ges. f³r Drahtlose Telegraphie. Dec. 23, 1919, [Convention date]. Thermionic modulating systems.--The oscillations generated by a valve generator are modulated by a pair of valve modulators controlled by a microphone and connected respectively in shunt tc and in series with, the plate-filament path of the generator. As shown in Fig. 3, a microphone 17 is connected through a transformer 16 to the grid circuits of two valves 11, 15 so as to produce opposite potential variations on the two grids. The valve 11 is connected in series between the direct-current source and the filament of the oscillator 2, and the valve 15 is connected in shunt to the oscillator. A high-frequency choke coil 10 and low-frequency choke coil 20 are connected between the valve 15 and the direct current source. The series modulator 11 may be connected between the filaments of the valves 15, 2. Known arrangements employing either the series or the shunt modulator separately are described in the Specification.
