Planes, construction of and connecting to machine; propelling; tanks and like containers, arrangement and disposition of.-The planes of monoplanes are rigid with the fuselage, and are stiffened against forces acting from above by an internal girder extending from one wing to the other and against forces acting from below by tension cables 4. Turning moments about an axis transverse to the direction of flight are counteracted by forming the internal girder as a boxshaped member by connecting two beams together. The plane 1 may be connected to the fuselage 2 by a frame 3, Fig. 1, or it may be connected thereto as shown in Fig. 3, to give access to the motors and the fuel and oil tanks when carried within the plane.
