Abstract

Protecting covers; leakage, preventing.-In taps or cocks having caps on the spindles to facilitate cleaning, the cap d<2>, Figs. 1, 5, and 9, is screwed to an upstanding part of the casing d which partially encloses the stuffing-box and may be integral with the casing a, as shown in Fig. 1. The part d may, however, be screwed to the casing a, as shown in Fig. 5, or split longitudinally, as in Fig. 9, and secured at the lower end by undercut and plain projections d<3>, d<4> and at the upper end by the screwed cap d<2>.
