Abstract
156,836. Steele, L. J., Martin, H., and McCarthy, A. E. June 27, 1919. Chucks; sockets.-A chuck for holding a stud which is to be welded to a plate by striking an arc between the stud and the plate and then moving the stud through the arc into contact with the plate, consists of a split conical screwed socket 87 and a screwed ring 88. In another form the stud is passed into an axial recess in the holder through a cylindrical block 92, which has a squared end 94 and which is secured in position by a nut. The holder may be rotated during the areing period.
