Abstract

Stamping-machines; presses; moulds. - In cement block machines of the type in which the moulds are movable vertically for discharge, such as described in Specification 5500/15, the blocks are held down, during the upward movement of the moulds, by means of a locking-device acting upon the plungers, until the blocks have been detached from the moulds, the locking-device being subsequently released. As shown, moulds 7 and cores 4 are carried respectively by plates 3, 2 movable in opposite directions with respect to a fixed table 1 which supports the pallets. Pressing-plungers 17 are carried by a head 18 furnished with a plug 19 adapted to be struck with a. hammer and secured to a shaft 35 whereby the plungers can be brought into alignment with the mould for pressing or swung aside for filling. The shaft 35 is also movable vertically and is depressed to bring the plungers into the moulds by a counterweighted lever 22 operated through a rod 23 by a treadle 24. A catch 27 pivoted to the lever 22 engages a pin 28 on the plate 1 and retains the shaft 35 in its depressed position until released by a link 31 connected to the plate 3.
