Abstract

Rotary-mould-table machines.-A brick press comprises a rotary table 1 fitted with interchangeable moulds into which material is fed from a charging- box 41, pressed by plungers 30 connected to an eccentric - operated lever 34, and discharged by plungers 46 connected to a cam-operated lever 48 on to balanced plates 62 carried by a receiving- table 55. The table 1 is rotated intermittently by an arm 7 secured to a shaft 8 and carrying a pin 6 engaging with switches 5 in the table ; the shaft 8 is driven through gearing from the main shaft 22 and also carries a segment 39 adapted to engage recesses 40 in the table and lock it in position. Motion is imparted from the spindle 2 of the mould table to the spindle 53 of the receiving-table through gearing 61, 60, 58, 57, 56. A stand 42, extending from the charging to the pressing positions, serves to support the material within the moulds and also acts as a pressure abutment. To prevent sticking of the material, the plunger 30 and stand 42 are steam-heated. The plates 62 are normally raised against the bottom of the moulds by weighted levers 63. To prevent breakage, the connecting-rod operating the lever 34 is provided with an elastic cushion, or it may be associated with an hydraulic safety-device. According to the Provisional Specification, the press may be in duplex form.
