Abstract
Process for the preparation of aminodi- and -polyalkylamidoalkanesulphonic acids and salts thereof of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R2, R4 and R5 independently of one another represent hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R3 represents alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, phenyl, tolyl or pyridyl, R6 represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having 1 to 25 carbon atoms, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, alkyl-substituted cycloalkyl, furfuryl, morpholinyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl, benzyl or substituted benzyl or a group derived from a polyvalent amine, M represents hydrogen, an alkali metal cation, an alkaline earth metal cation, a group derived from an organic base or ammonium, and n represents an integer corresponding to the valency of M, by subjecting, in a base-catalysed reaction, a primary amine of the formula R6NH2 and an alkenylamidoalkanesulphonic acid salt of the formula <IMAGE> in which the individual substituents have the abovementioned meanings and M1 represents an alkali metal cation, an alkaline earth metal cation, a group derived from an organic base or ammonium, to an addition reaction and, if appropriate, converting the resulting salts into the free acids. The aminodi- or -polyalkylamidoalkanesulphonic acids or the salts thereof are useful surface-active auxiliaries.
