Abstract

154,834. Pennings, B. March 22, 1920. Mechanism upon the crank bracket.-For preventing the theft of velocipedes &c. one of the cranks, pivotally mounted at right-angles to the crank-axle, is adapted to be swung round from its normal driving position into a position in which the pedal engages between the spokes of the rear road wheel, mechanism being provided for locking or securing the crank in its locking and its driving portions. As shown, the crank 5 is pivoted at 4 to cross-arms 3 upon a plate 2 on the axle 1, a lock 7 with a bolt to engage with a hole in the crank being provided for locking the crank in its reversed position, and a spring bolt 9, controlled by a push-rod 16 and a spring-pressed catch bolt 21, being fitted to engage with a hole 10 for retaining the crank in its driving position.
