Abstract

Calcium cynanamide is decomposed by acid, the dilute cyanamide solution first obtained being employed several times successively in the treatment of more calcium cyanamide, and the concentrated solution of cyanamide thus obtained is allowed to stand, with or without addition of a little ammonia. The dicyandiamide separating out is converted into ammonium salts by treatment with an acid such as sulphuric, phosphoric or nitric, or a mixture of acid and an acid salt. The excess acid is employed for the preparation, within the mixture, of superphosphate or other combination having manurial value, or may be neutralized with ammonia or suitable salts thereof. The carbon dioxide produced in the decomposition of the dicyandiamide may be collected and employed in the production of the cyanamide solution.ALSO:A manure is obtained by converting dicyandiamide into ammonium salts by treatment with an acid such as sulphuric, phosphoric, or nitric, or a mixture of acid and an acid salt; the excess acid is employed for the preparation, within the mixture, of superphosphate or other combination having manurial value.
