Abstract

154,269. Hill, H. July 24, 1919. Weft-inserters not carrying bobbins &c., looms with; smallware looms; vertical looms. - In a narrow-fabric loom in which the warp threads pass up through a series of longitudinal guide-bars or wires H adapted to form a series of transverse parallel sheds C into which weft threads D are inserted in loops by reciprocating instruments or needles A as described in Specification 119,558, a series of shuttles E carrying threads to secure the weft loops are reciprocated along a longitudinal bar F provided with gaps F<1> to admit the upturned ends A' of the instruments A below the level of the shuttles E. A longitudinally-reciprocated bar G is provided with projections G<1> to engage and actuate all the shuttles E. The instruments A may be straight and be arranged so as to incline upwards towards the shuttles E. The beating-up reed J is arranged below the level of the bar F and the bar B that carries the instruments A.
