Abstract
153,529. Strosk, M. April 7, 1920. Locking rotary elements by positive detents.- A claw clutch or brake comprises an axially movable shaft carrying a drum 7 on which a channelled ring 1 carrying rollers 5 is rotatably mounted and one or more radially moving arms 10 carrying rollers 9 adapted to be thrown into engagement with the rollers carried by the ring, or withdrawn therefrom, according to the position of the shaft. The axles 10 are actuated by inclined grooves 14 in the shaft and have notches 18 which slide on ribs 19 in the grooves 14 to facilitate their withdrawal. A stepped part 16 of the groove on which the arm 10 rests when the clutch is engaged may be slightly depressed to form a partial lock preventing accidental disengagement.
