Abstract
1534953 Expanded water-glass/polymer binder compositions PROIZVODSTVENNO-TEKHNICHE OBIEDINENIE ROSORGTEKHSTROM 23 April 1976 16470/76 Headings C3C and C3R A composition for use as heat insulation comprises 8À6-58% by wt. of a polymer binder which has been foamed and hardened by means of 1À4-14% by wt. of a foaming hardening component for the polymer, and contains 28-90 per cent by wt. of expanded granules of waterglass as filler. The expanded granules may be made by feeding drops of water-glass containing filler, e.g. tripoli or lime, into an aq. solution of calcium chloride through a gauze and the particles obtained are separated, dried and expanded by heating above 200‹ C. In the Examples, the expanded granules are mixed with a phenol formaldehyde resin, aluminium, phenol, sulphuric acid, urea, formaldehyde, orthophosphoric acid, water, ureaformaldehyde resin, a mixture of polyethylene glycol esters of mono- and di-alkylphenols, benzene-sulphonic acid and/or diethyleneglycol and poured into moulds to form heat-insulation materials.
