Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a mold which is extremely low in the coefft. of thermal expansion, and is high in mold strength such as cold bending strength by making combination use of a ketone resin with a resol resin coating the sand grains.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 100pts.wt. a resol resin and 5W50pts.wt. a kotone resin is mixed with sand particles, whereby resin-coated molding sand is obtained. Here, if the ketone resin is below the lower limit, the effect is not outstanding, and if it is above the upper limit, the degradation in mold strength is admitted. This coated sand is obtained by mixing the ketone resin and the sand grains simultaneously or separately in arbitrary order at an arbitrary time from prior to starting of production until the end thereof. Otherwise, it is equally well to beforehand mix both resins mentioned above at a desired ratio and to mix this mixture with the sand grains or to add the keton resin after mixing the resol resin and the sand grains. It is possible to add an assistant such as calcium stearate at the mixing.
