Abstract

1534510 Knitting machines KROY KNITTING DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [24 Dec 1974] 55798/74 Heading D1C A pattern unit for a circular, e.g. high-pile, knitting machine comprises a rotatable outer cylindrical drum 13 housing in tricks 14 axially slidable selector elements 15 and a stationary inner cylindrical core 16 around which is provided a cam formation 16a for controlling the elements 15, the distribution of elements 15 in the tricks 14 being determined by the required pattern and those elements present being slidingly raised or lowered by the cam formation to raise or lower associated knitting instruments such as needles 10 of which the pitch corresponds to that of the tricks 14. The needles may be displaced between tracks 11, 12 at a carding station. The cam formation may be a channel cooperating with butts 15a on the elements 15 or a rib cooperating with recesses in the elements.
