Metal pipes and tubes. -Composite metal tubes for pressure gauges comprise an outer tube S of resilient metal such as steel and an inner tube C of non-resilient non- corrosive metal such as very pure copper. Tubes thus assembled are first flattened, and slightly tapered mandrels P are then inserted, the tubes being compressed by external pressure to the shape shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 5 shows side and end views of a completed tube. The outer tube S may be finely grooved or threaded internally to prevent longitudinal displacement.
