Abstract
1529443 Casks BURNETT & ROLFE Ltd 2 June 1977 [8 April 1976] 41291/75 Heading B8D In a container, e.g. a beer keg, provided with a filling and emptying spear, the spear 2 is fitted at its inner end with a deflecting device 1 which has an opening 5 of lesser diameter than the spear and an annulus 4 and skirt 3 which together provide passageways 9, 10, the arrangement being such that when liquid is forced through spear 2 to wash the interior of the container, part of the flow is directed via passageways 9, 10 on to the outer surface of the spear. As shown the device 1 is removably attached by means of clamping screws 7 (only one shown). Other embodiments, Figs. 3-6 (not shown), are described, the device of Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), projecting and being held within the spear. The device may be permanently mounted, e.g. by swaging or welding.
