Abstract
1528205 Modifying Al surfaces SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 20 Oct 1975 [18 Oct 1974 7 Oct 1975] 43000/75 Headings C7F and C7U An Al or Al alloy surface is contacted with an aqueous solution of a salt of Fe, Cu, Ni, Mn, Zn, Sn or Cr, and then with a solution containing a molybdate, a fluorine compound, and/or Fe, Ni, Cr, Sn, Zn, Cu or Mn chloride or an organic chloride compound (amino-chlorhydrates). The pH is stabilized at 6 to 8À5 with an amine. The coating may be subsequently passivated in a chromate, silicate or amino solution. The molybdate may be of ammonium or alkali metal and may be a heptamolybdate. The fluorine compound may be sodium fluoride, fluoroborate or fluorosilicate.
