Abstract
152,757. Crossley, Sir K. I., and Webb, W. Le P. July 18, 1919. Regulating delivery by by-passes.-In a fuel pump for internal-combustion engines, a by-pass valve B is opened at a variable point in the delivery stroke of the pump plunger A by means of a floating lever Q the fulcrum of which is adjusted by the governor. The fulcrum may consist of a cam-surface pivoted at R or a wedge sliding on a fixed abutment. The lever Q is mounted on the plunger A so that it is actuated by the plunger-actuating mechanism, or it may be supported by actuating-mechanism. A set screw M may be provided at the fulcrum end of the lever or at the point where it engages the stem of the valve B. A spring holds the lever up to the fulcrum. Specification 21043/11 is referred to.
