Abstract

1527530 Variable pitch axial flow fans ANTON PILLER KG 8 Nov 1976 [12 Nov 1975] 46334/76 Heading F1C The pitch of an axial-flow fan blade 12 is varied incrementally by an index plate 28 containing drillings 56, 58, 60, 62 which may be selectively aligned with drillings 48, 50, 52, 54 in blade root 16, the two sets of drillings having different angular spacings so that alignment of any pair is associated with a given pitch, the alignment being maintained by a plate 40 bearing an index pin 42 which passes through the aligned drillings, the assembly being clamped in position by a screw 34. Stop dogs 44 which abut a shoulder 26 of the fan hub 4 prevent the plate 28 from rotating relative to the hub. In another embodiment, Figs. 3 to 7 (not shown), the blade root contains eight drillings spaced at 45 degrees intervals, and the index plate contains 9 drillings spaced at 40 degrees intervals, this giving a range of adjustment for blade pitch of Π90 degrees in steps of 5 degrees. To provide a continuous range of adjustment between the steps, the stop dogs may be formed by screws (104) which abut shoulder 26 and which may be adjusted to rotate the index plate relative to the hub.
