Abstract

634,486. Screw fans. WALKER BROS. (WIGAN), Ltd., (Macard Screws, Ltd.). Dec. 11, 1947, No. 32664. [Class 110(i)] The outer surface of the rim of the rotor hub 11 is of spherical form, with recesses 12 each adapted to receive the root or boss 13 of a blade 14, and a cam element 20 engaging both the 'hub and boss can be rotated to adjust the pitch of the blade. The cam element 20 comprises an eccentric 19 working in a slot 18 formed in the hub, and is rotated by a tool applied to a square portion 23. The position of the blade is indicated by a mark on the boss which registers with a graduated scale on the hub. After adjustment, the blade is locked in place by a nut 24. The surface of the boss is spherical to correspond with that of the hub. The cam element 20 may be carried by the hub instead of the boss.
